Privacy
Your photos
are yours.
You’re about to hand us pictures of people you love and something honest you wrote. Here is exactly what happens to them.
Who we are
MO-MO-RA is a New Zealand business, and we are responsible for the personal information described here under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.
For anything about your information — a question, a correction, a deletion or a complaint — write to support@mo-mo-ra.com. A person will read it.
What we collect
Only what you choose to put into a gift, which can include:
- the recipient’s first name, and the moment or occasion;
- your relationship and your answers about them — the story;
- your message to them;
- your own name, if you add it and don’t mark it private;
- the photographs you upload;
- your choices, such as the World and look, whether to keep your name private, and the music for a song;
- with MO-MO-RA FOREVER, any lyrics you write for the song.
We don’t ask for anyone’s address, phone number or date of birth. When you pay, Stripe handles the payment and we keep a reference to that payment so we can match it to your gift. We never receive or store your full card details.
When you visit the public pages of this website we also collect some technical information — see “Cookies, browser storage and analytics” below.
While you’re making it
Your draft — words and photographs — is kept in your own browser tab while you make it. It stays there if you reload the page, and is gone when you close the tab.
One step is different. When you reach your preview, MO-MO-RA shapes your words into the finished story. To do that, the recipient’s first name, the moment, your answers and your message are sent to our server and on to Anthropic, the AI writing service we use. Your photographs are not sent — only how many there are — and neither is your own name. We don’t store what is sent for this step, and we don’t keep a copy of the result on our side: it comes back to your browser.
MO-MO-RA may help shape your words. It must not invent memories, facts or experiences, and you see the result before anything is published.
When you publish and pay
When you choose to publish, the whole gift — words and photographs — is sent to our servers and stored, and you’re taken to Stripe to pay. It can only be opened by anyone else once the payment is confirmed.
If you start checkout and don’t finish, that unpaid copy is never shown to anyone. It is marked to expire after 30 days, but we don’t yet remove expired copies on a fixed schedule, so we can’t promise the exact day it goes. If you want it gone now, email support@mo-mo-ra.com.
Who can see a published gift
It lives at its own private link, which is long and not guessable. It isn’t listed anywhere on this site and the page tells search engines not to index it.
Anyone who has the link can open it. Treat it like a photo you’ve texted to someone: share it with the people you meant to, and remember they can pass it on.
How your photographs are used
To build and show your gift, and nothing else. We don’t sell them, show them to anyone you haven’t sent the link to, use them in our advertising, or use them to train AI. They are never sent to our AI writing service or our music provider. Public examples on this site use separate sample photos, never anyone’s gift.
The companies that help us run MO-MO-RA
We use a small number of providers. Each receives only what it needs:
- Stripe — takes your payment. It handles your card details directly; we never see them.
- Supabase — our database and file storage, where a published gift, its photographs and (if you have one) its song are kept.
- Anthropic — shapes your words into the finished story at the preview step, as described above.
- ElevenLabs — makes the music for a Personalised Song. See the next section.
- Hostinger — hosts this website. Like any web host, it keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
- Google — Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, on our public pages only. See below.
These are independent companies that process information under their own terms and privacy policies, and some or all of them process it outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We use them because they are needed to run the service, not to sell or share your information for their own purposes.
The Personalised Song
The Personalised Song comes with MO-MO-RA FOREVER. A MO-MO-RA (NZ$9.99) doesn’t include one.
It sings words you wrote — either lyrics you write yourself for the song, or your message to them, followed by the answers you gave about them if your message is short. MO-MO-RA does not write or change those words; it only decides where the lines break.
To make the song, the words to be sung and a short description of the music you chose are sent to ElevenLabs, an independent music generation company. That only happens after your payment is confirmed, and once for each version made — two at first, and a third only if you ask for one. Your photographs are never sent to ElevenLabs, and neither is a private sender name — though if you wrote a name into the words themselves, it is part of what is sung. ElevenLabs may process what it receives under its own terms and privacy documentation, outside New Zealand.
The finished audio is copied straight into our own private storage. It plays only through your gift’s private link and your manage link, stops when you take the gift down, and is deleted when you delete the gift.
How long we keep it
A MO-MO-RA (NZ$9.99) can be opened for one year. After that its link says the gift has ended, but the gift and its photographs stay stored — so it could be brought back — until you delete it or ask us to. A MO-MO-RA FOREVER has no end date and is kept until you delete it or ask us to.
With MO-MO-RA FOREVER, the keepsake PDF is made when you ask for it, from what is already stored, and we don’t keep a separate copy of it.
Stripe keeps its own payment records for as long as it is required to. We have not set a fixed retention period for server logs, which our hosting provider controls.
Taking it down, or deleting it
After you publish, you’re given a private manage link, shown once. Keep it somewhere safe. With it you can:
- edit it — change the words or photos; what you save replaces what was there, and photos you remove are no longer kept;
- take the gift down — the private link stops opening, but nothing is erased, so it isn’t gone for good;
- delete it permanently — the gift, its photographs and any song are removed, and there is no undo.
Lost the manage link? Email support@mo-mo-ra.com with your payment receipt and we’ll do it for you.
Cookies, browser storage and analytics
Your draft is kept in your browser’s session storage so a half-finished gift survives a reload. It isn’t an advertising cookie and it disappears when you close the tab.
Our public pages, including the steps where you make a gift, use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or city, worked out from the IP address), and what kind of device and browser they use. It sets cookies to tell one visit from another. It never sees the words you write or your photographs.
It never runs on private gift links, manage links, previews or the page shown after you pay, because those addresses are themselves private — and when you leave one of those pages for a public one, the public page starts afresh, so a private address is never passed to it. You can stop Google Analytics recording your visits with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
We also record a few simple usage events of our own — for example, that a step of Create was reached, or that a gift was opened — in our server logs. They never contain the words you write or your photographs.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us:
- whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
- to correct information that is wrong;
- to delete a gift, or to take it down;
- any question about how your information is handled.
Write to support@mo-mo-ra.com. We may need to confirm it’s really you — usually with your payment receipt or manage link — before acting on a request. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If how we handle information changes, we’ll update this page and the date below. Our Terms of Service explain the rest of how MO-MO-RA works. Last updated 13 October 2026.
